We named this room Irwin after Keith's mum's maiden name, to honour and remember Dorothy's wonderful hospitality.
This large, light-filled room is perfect for one or two guests. The showpiece is definitely the original 1930s bedroom set that was bought at an estate auction, in perfect shape (with 80 years of nicotine protecting its lovely finish before cleaning.). The bed even lights up at both sides for late reading. There's two comfortable chairs - original to the house but now refurnished, room for storage and closet space. In the closet is a small fridge, iron and mini ironing board and there is an alarm/radio/recharger and small flatscreen in the bedroom.
Hospitality shelves in the closet hold a mini-Keurig, cups & sugars. You can pick from our large variety of coffees & teas in the kitchen for a late night or early beverage & I'll put cream and milk in the fridge for you. There's also a small decanter of cream sherry & glasses for a late nightcap, as well as wine glasses.
A window a/c unit is usually installed for the mid-summer hot humid nights of which we always get a handful each summer.
Irwin bath
The Irwin bath has a clawfoot tub as its' focal point. But the plumbing is definitely 21st century. There is a grab rail for ease in entering & exiting.
The vanity is an antique wash stand left by the previous owner that we repurposed, now it holds a vessel sink and arch-neck faucet. Our towels are thick, there's a "things-I-forgot" box of supplies and please feel free to try the house blend toiletries, bath gel, shampoo & conditioner, and body milk, a blend of lavender, rosemary, clary sage & sandalwood. A wall-mounted towel warmer add another luxe touch to this bath.
Bathrobes & flipflops are in your closet & if you need or forgot anything, just ask.
