We named this room Irwin after Keith's mum's maiden name, to honour and remember Dorothy's wonderful hospitality.
This large, light-filled room is perfect for one or two guests. The showpiece is definitely the original 1930s bedroom set that was bought at an estate auction, in perfect shape, although with 80 years of nicotine protecting its lovely finish. The bed head lights up at both sides for late reading. There's two comfortable chairs - original to the house but now refurnished. In the closet is a minifridge, iron & mini-ironing board. USB connections and a small flatscreen are in the bedroom.
Hospitality shelves in the closet hold an electric kettle and coffee/tea fixings. We'll put cream/milk in the fridge for you... or tell me how you & when you'd like your coffee outside your door in the morning. A small decanter of cream sherry & glasses for a late nightcap, as well as wine glasses if you choose to bring a bevvie as in the room.
Quiet mini-split a/c provides air flow cool comfort for those southern Ontario mid-summer humid nights, of which we always get a handful each summer.
Irwin bath
The Irwin bath has a clawfoot tub as its' focal point. But the plumbing is definitely 21st century. There is a grab rail for ease in entering & exiting.
The vanity is an antique wash stand, left by the previous owner, that was 21st century updated. Towels are thick & plentiful & there's a "things-I-forgot" box of supplies. A wall-mounted towel warmer add another comforting touch to this bath. Environmentally-sourced bath products, body wash, shampoo & conditioner are in the tub.
Bathrobes are in your closet & if you need or forgot anything, just ask.
